Handcrafted Mocktails for the Mom-To-Be

blog pinterest

No alcohol for 9 months? No problem!

I am all for mocktails, but I cant stand when they are sickening sweet or heavy.

My trick: Citrus! It gives the drink a bite while bringing on a refreshing note that cant be beat.

First up- Bloody Mary. Truth be told, I drank virgin Bloody Marys long before I was pregnant. It grosses my husband out, but Ive been known to put pickles/green olives/mozzarella cheese sticks/shrimp and many other savory things in my Blood Mary concoctions. They might as well have been meal replacements, haha! If I felt like it, sure a bit of vodka would go in as well, but more likely than not it was a virgin Bloody. ANYWAY! This recipe is a little more traditional..

IMG_1353.JPGYou will need:

V8 Juice (I prefer low sodium)

Worcestershire Sauce

Sriracha Sauce (or your fav hot sauce)

Old Bay

To create the Old Bay rim on your glass, you will first need to run a lemon slice around the rim. Next, sprinkle Old Bay on a plate. Dip the rim of the glass in the Old Bay (don’t be stingy) and there you have it!

In a shaker pour your V8, a few dashes of Worcestershire and a dash or two of Sriracha (to taste, it can get spicy quick). Add ice to mixture and shake. Pour into glass. Add a squeeze of lime and garnish with celery and bacon.

If you’re preggo, have tums close by. 😉

Now, are you in the mood for an ice cold cider? I’ve gotcha covered!

Cider Lime Spritzer- This is truly one of my favorites, and its SUPER easy! Without the lime, the cider alone is wayyyy too sweet for me to enjoy (personally). With the lime… heaven.

You will need:

Your favorite Cider (non alcoholic)

I said this one was easy, right? Just throw some ice in a glass, add your cider, and add lime. IT IS SO REFRESHING!

Want to fancy it up a bit? Add some fresh (or in my case, frozen) fruit! I simply threw in some frozen blueberries, strawberries, and a few diced apple slices.

You will end up with something that looks like this:

Last but not least is a Pink Lemonade Spritzer: The bubbles separate this from regular pink lemonade. Its not the biggest difference, and I considered not adding this one on the list…but its so dang good!

You will need:

Country Time Pink Lemonade Mix

Soda Water

(sugar if you aren’t into tart flavors)

To make: Simply pour soda water in glass, add the Pink Lemonade Mix, add ice and garnish with lemon. If it is too tart, add a bit of sugar. 🙂

Cheers to all of the moms-to-be! We all deserve a good drink..even if it has to be a virgin one! 😉
