Before giving you the full review, I want to state that I have very little experience with indoor cycling. I have never taken a professional class. I’ve jumped on a bike in the gym before, but I am absolutely no expert. I truly had no idea if I would really get into cycling or not. I was willing to try it out, because I wanted to have a way to get cardio in at home while Audrey napped. Needless to say, I LOVE IT. It has helped me lose weight, and I absolutely recommend this bike (or one like it) to anyone – beginner or not!
I looked into MANY bikes before deciding this was the one I wanted. I am all of 5 feet 2 inches, so I needed a bike that would be comfortable to ride. I rely heavily on amazon reviews, and many of them stated that this particular model is fantastic for vertically challenged individuals like myself. 😉
I was able to put the bike together within 2 hours. It came with every tool I needed, and the instructions were very easy to follow. The bike was super heavy, and I did need my husband to help me move it to it’s permanent location.
Before my first workout, I watched this video to help me adjust it accordingly. If you really don’t know much about how to adjust your bike, the video will tell you everything you need to know in under 4 minutes!
Once I had my bike adjusted, it was time to get a workout in! I did my own routine to my favorite workout playlist, and I realized very quickly that it was challenging (but in a good way)!
The seat was comfortable, and the bike’s settings were perfect. I did end up moving the handle bars a notch higher than I originally had them. This provided me with a little more comfort.
The following day I went to workout on the bike again…and OUCH. There is no pretty way to say it… my ass hurt. It hurt real bad. THANKFULLY after a week of riding, I no longer felt the pain. I was close to purchasing a new seat or padded britches, but now I am used to it so there is no need. 🙂
When I stand up to pedal, there is a little bit of movement. It’s not enough to bother me, and it does not interrupt my workout. I still feel as if the bike is extremely stable/sturdy especially considering how small of a footprint it has.
For the most part, it is quite. If it does start to become loud, I simply tinker with the resistance knob for a second and I can usually find a setting where it isn’t as noisy. My husband has watched TV in the room next to where I spin, and he hasn’t complained of it being too loud. I also spin while Audrey naps, and the sound hasn’t bothered her either. I have read reviews that claim it to be a noisy bike, and that may happen with age. Thankfully I haven’t experienced that yet!
I’ve discovered my new favorite HITT workout to do on it – click here to view video. I’ve been doing this routine for weeks now, and I can tell that I am getting stronger. I love it because it’s quick! (It’s only 30 minutes!) It is one of those workouts that you can make as hard or as easy as you want to. I, personally, really give it my all every time. However, if you are having an off day, you could still do this workout using less resistance during the sprints. I will admit, I am getting bored with the video because I have seen it so many times now. I plan on making up my own HITT routine soon so that I can spin to my favorite music. Gotta keep it fresh! 🙂
Again, I highly recommend this bike! I think it is awesome for the person that is looking to workout in their home.
