A few days ago, I found the hard drive that contains all of our photos and videos from our vacations. Y’ALL, it had been lost for YEARS. Three years to be exact. I feel as if I am finally going to do the “travel” tab on my blog some justice! Get ready for several blog posts regarding not one but two European vacations. They may not be as in-depth as I would prefer for a travel post, but I am so excited to share what I do remember!
The first installment of our 2014 trip begins in Zermatt, Switzerland. It’s a beautiful village nestled under the Matterhorn. It gives me all of the Who-ville vibes, as I suspect that the Grinch himself lives somewhere in that mountain. 😉
We stayed at The Capricorn Inn. The view from our room (as seen in the photo above) was absolutely breathtaking. I spent a good amount of time on our balcony taking in the fresh mountain air while listening to people, their ski gear clinking, as they made their way to the gondolas.
Derek and our good friends, Jules and Brandon, spent hours skiing while I explored around the village with their boxer-pup, Tahoe. (There were dogs everywhere, as so many places are pup friendly!) The shops and restaurants spill out onto the streets inviting you to look around and stay awhile. One could spend all day swooning over the view while having a cup of coffee or a warm glass of Gluwhien. One could also spend all their money here. Its dangerously expensive. Worth it? Yes.
Now, I dont ski… I après ski. 😉 When the others arrived back, I met them out for food and drinks. The live music was amazing, and apparently everyone in Zermatt BUT US could sing. People from the crowd were called up on stage to perform with the band… including Jules and myself. (As seen at the end of the video! Yikes.)
Zermatt… We explored, drank and danced our hearts out.
Next up… Val d’Isère, France.
