Friday Favorites – October 6th

Happy Friday, everyone!

This week has been such a nice one! Derek is out of town for the next few days (hiking in the mountains with family), so we will have a low-key weekend in the Kegerreis household. I am, however, still looking forward to it! My goal for today is to get all of our errands done so that Audrey and I can just hang out and have girl time for the next few days. 🙂

When Derek is out of town and I’m solo with Audrey, I have some activities I like to have on hand to keep her entertained! (The more entertained she is, the better off I am! I know my momma friends feel me!)

So, this Friday Favs is going to be a little different, because it will be geared toward some of my favorite ways to entertain a 15 month old!

  1. The Cheap Plastic Pool– I got this idea from my little sister! She uses her pool with or WITHOUT water all of the time. Now that Summer is over, the water can come out and toys can go in! If its a rainy day, the pool can come right in the house, and you can throw stuffed animals, balls, blankets or other toys inside. I think it gives kids a little change of scenery and adds a little excitement to their everyday toys that they may have become bored with . And with any luck, it can contain a mess… but who am I kidding! 😉

2. Paint In a Ziplock Bag- This is the perfect mess-free way to create little works of art! Take a paper (card stock works best!), put it in a ziplock bag, and add some non-toxic paint inside. Be sure to zip the bag shut all of the way, and then give it to your little one! (I like to put some music on and have Audrey sit in her highchair during this activity. It gives me a little time to get some cleaning done..or brew a cup of coffee!)

Take the masterpiece out when they are through, and do whatever you please with it! They make great gifts for the grandparents! ❤

3. Get outside!- Audrey is now walking which has opened up a whole new world for her!  She loves to pick things up (leaves, sticks, flowers and sometimes things that she SHOULDNT be picking up), so I like to give her a little reusable shopping bag to put things in. You’d be surprised how occupied this keeps her!

She also loves to throw, kick and roll balls. We play the “roll the ball down the slide” game all of the time. It’s basically fetch for a 1 year old. 😉

We also go on LOTS of walks while listening to music.

4. Bubbles.. Because bubbles are truly everythinggg to kids. This bubble machine is awesome for outdoors or a small container works for inside (if you don’t mind).

5. Run wild my child– Seriously, just letting them do their own thing is sometimes best. Having an enclosed, baby-proofed area is so crucial. We LOVE our new baby gate, as it allows Audrey access to most of the downstairs. She can kind of do her own thing while I tidy up, cook or play along with her.

Sometimes I want to let her free in an area…but I am so sick of the house. When that happens I like to take her to the library! They have an amazing play area for kids. So, check your local library and see what they have to offer!

I hope you all enjoyed this Friday Favorites!  Have a wonderful weekend, and come back next Friday for more! ❤
